I can't help but notice the repeated intervention of the US govt with Mamta Banerjee. First, there was Hillary Clinton who came calling on Mamta, and now it's the US ambassador who is intervening with Mamta directly over the WalMart issue.
They may have just given the money to Reliance as part of a joint venture contract, that type of deal not unheard of.
When NDA was in power, it was the other way round. BJP was for FDI in retail while Congress opposed it.
