I did not quite like the new format! It is making me visit your blog less frequently. Where is the RSS feed on news related to Hindus and Hinduism? It used to be so informative!

Ditto---This new format sucks. All those links to the left were a treasure trove of info. Now your blogpost looks drab & grey.

yes, the new template is a little bit unsettling. wordpress has lots of nice magazine templates. you can probably create a new domain and host it there.
if number of authors increases, then may be you can run this like a bi-monthly magazine. i know its not easy, but just a thought.
