Rajiv Malhotra interviews Swami Nithyananda

mar 12th, 2010

since all the noise has come from the other side demonizing the swami, it is worth hearing what he has to say as well.

of course in the case of mohammedans (eg. bareilly riot, sabarmati express burning etc.) or the christists (eg. punjab riot, assassination of swami laxmananda) all the noise comes from the side supporting the semites.

I never heard this man's name before the scandal. He comes across as an ordinary fellow who was having a nice ride peddling sermons. I bet he collected lot of money and of course spent a part on it on ostentatious charity.
Hindus are routinely exploited by such demi-gods. And in some cases, the faux gurus own large business-charity complexes which rival the likes of Jerry Falwell & Pat Robertson in US.
I do remember the graceful HH Swami Chinmayananda who never claimed to be divine or special - he just spread the message of Gita.

well relax...

if u want to believe some grainy video and pass judgments.. so be it...

btw... Swami Chinmayanada did not have Dravidian parties and media character villification campaign coordinated by the powers that be to worry about...

so lets hold on to the idea of deciding whether is divine or not...

it hurts us fellow Hindus to stand by a Hindu religious leader in times of need when it is so obvious how systematic a smear campaign has been launched against him...isnt it??

we all have to sound scholarly and "rational".. now.. dont we? without even waiting to hear the entire truth....

i suppose i would love to believe that he is a victim of some sort of dmk-christist conspiracy, but he does appear to be guilty.his recent interview with slimes of inda is absolutely ridiculous (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/I-was-in-a-trance-when-video-was-recorded-Swami-Nithyananda/articleshow/5681275.cms).
he says he was in samadhi when the video was taken (hehehehe) and that part of the tape was recorded and part morphed. is he mad? these guys end up making hinduism look ridiculous.

What is wrong in a man who practices a relationship with another adult ?

This spiritual teacher never spoke against consensual relationship.

Indians are very fond of proving their loyalty to the "victorian mentality". And we do it happily it is about some one who has more fame and success. Slavish dogs we are.

'Slavish dogs we are.' - cuziyum

correct. appropriate self-description. slave to adharmic influence.

best to use first person singular in this case to be more accurate.

Incognito,

I see you can throw words like "bharatiya", "bharateeeya" etc etc at many places while writing up a post..(though at times its so confusing about what u r point really is)

It so easy sitting in front of u r computer and feel holier than thou, and somehow feel that you know more about Hindu dharma than others..

When you step out of u r glass house and defend Hinduism in the streets of India where everyone (including Hindus like you) are hell bent on believing a "trial by media" you know how hard it is..

When you are pitted against the state and its resources, it can get very ugly...

even if you want to believe the fairy tales that have been showed on TV, it would be nice if you avoid demeaning a Hindu leader or his teachings about whom you have no clue..(since u seem to espouse them in many of u r posts)

You have no idea of how much social change swamiji has been doing in states like TN much to the anger of missionaries.. it takes a lotttttttt of courage and effort do this...

if u took some time out to learn, look at the lives of many our most revered leaders including Swami Vivekananda, Ramakrishna paramahamsa have at some point of time had to go through the calumny of having been associated with some "women"..(e.g ever heard of Sister Nivedita).. of course we did not have TV, internet and twitter then to malign a person..all that schmuck cannot stick and make them any less a person(if only u know who a paramahamsa is.. u may understand .. but i dont expect u to spend time researching such topics)

if u r "intellect" does not want to believe in this swamiji, you are well within u r right to do so.. but avoid denigrating some one (anyone) who is doing good at the ground level for Hinduism..(u see..its infintely harder than typing in front of a computer in an A/C office espousing some vague ideas of "dharma")

Thanks and namaste!

I had no Idea that Swami Nithyananda was at par with Ramakrishna Paramahamsa & Swami Vivekananda! I am reminded of the "Fair&Balanced" Fox News where spinning facts is the name of the game.

This attempt to tie in Swami Vivekananda, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, so-called 'hinduism' , 'doing good at ground level', 'social change much to anger of missionaries' etc., to rescue Rajasekara is pathetic.
