World Vision Pakistan is suspending its operations after an attack on its local offices, seen here.

 

World Vision, an American-based charity, has suspended operations in Pakistan following an attack on its office in northwestern Pakistan Wednesday.

BBC reports that six died in the World Vision attacks and Islamist militants are suspected of being behind the attack.

About a dozen militants raided the office and began shooting, the New York Times reports.

World Vision describes itself as an international Christian relief, development and advocacy organization. It posted the following about the attack on its Web site:

Staff brutally killed: World Vision today is mourning the brutal and senseless deaths of six members of our staff in the Mansehra District of Pakistan after an unprovoked attack by gunmen.
