when it comes to carrying their can, the NYT remembers 'aspiring power' india

mar 17th, 2010

such jerks the editorial writers at the NYT are! they disrespect india all the time, but when they want someone to do their dirty work for them, they think of indian coolies.

in point of fact, india is not being hurt that much by chinese currency manipulation because india's market is predominantly domestic, and the areas where india exports, china doesn't have much core competency, except in textiles. india's diamond, agricultural, hi-tech exports are not things china can match. so we don't actually care that much how artificially low the renminbi is. nor do we care that much if the chinese dump their trillion-dollar holdings in treasuries and drive down the dollar. the yanks care, we don't.

But Rajeev, if China dumps treasury holdings, value of US dollar will drop, if not plummet. That will hurt China too as well as India, who holds its reserve in US dollars, not in Euro. Many Indians in US will lose jobs too.

Anyway, Did you read the news on David Headley? B Raman's view in Rediff is superb! If somebody says that FBI knew or involved in 11/26 Mumbai massacre, I don't reject it.
B Raman ends his comment with "
Headley will be protected. The FBI will be protected. The US administration will be protected. The Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) will be protected. The Pakistani government and its army will be protected. Only we poor Indians will remain unprotected because the government of India headed by Dr Manmohan Singh [ Images ] cannot protect us.

What naivete, Mr Prime Minister! What naivete! "

Simplisticly, I am of the opinion that all this is set to change. The US in a span of 5 to 10 years will not be a dominant economy and thus all its investments in China and China's dependency on the US will get adversely affected impacting greatly both economies. Similar story for the EU.

What made the US a great economy for the last 50 odd years was its internal consumption. India seems to be treading on the same path and should continue to do so. India should concentrate on improving the lot of its people and the internal demand will drive the nation forward. If we become the largest customer in the world then we will be kind. China on the other hand is export oriented with no major internal market and lets face it they don't have any IP, they make things for others. This is one area where India should work on. Make products, products, products. Till then we will be known as cyber coolies.

B Raman cheered the congress victory. He has never liked the BJP. But now he says he the MMS govt is not doing a good job? He must be crazy to feel surprised about this.

The Indian govt is a joke. These people in power are not interested in moving India forward. Only a BJP Govt can deal with terrorism and islamic radicalism. This moron bad mouthed Modi some time back.

I dont read B Raman's articles anymore.
