that, by the way, was the tag line for the mac for a while.
i like this idea -- making a simple machine that does not bloat up over time as PC OS's do (which is one of the reasons it's such a good idea to put the iPhone OS and not the Mac OS on it), and one that moves you beyond mouse and keyboard.
i wonder if people will use it as a nice e-book reader, video-player and game-player most of the time, with a little applications work done periodically using the word processor or the presentation app.

I agree, Rajeev - they're now calling this the "post PC" era (not referring to political correctness, but to the personal computer), with the emphasis on the computer as a mere appliance, rather than as a device requiring training to use.
I was talking to a friend today about Ajay Bhatt's invention of USB, which was prompted by his desire to allow people to hook up peripherals without a whole lot of connection headaches.
Good article, Kola. ARM's business model of licensing Processor cores (as opposed to selling silicon) made it dominant in handhelds. (The actual chip can be fabricated by any of the Silicon vendors). What we are witnessing is the tipping point of ARM evolving and finally competing with Intel in the same segment. Infact it was Intel's success with Atom processor that showed the world that all that horsepower of Pentium processors is an overkill for most users.
Here is Ajay Bhatt, San:

I think all those apps which are /will be available for iPad are going to bloat that.
The performacne simply depends on the hardware. eventually people would want to do everything on iPad just like people started listen music, and watching movies and video conferencing on PC even though intially PC was not generally designed for these activities.
