The title is slightly misleading. The British did not create the Dowry system neither does Talwar imply that they did. The land titles led to a deamonisation of the Dowry system.

Now that we have so much information on how British divided India, can we not think a little about dividing the enemies of India? Is it too much to ask the posters not to refer to anyone as Christians/Islamists? Try using terms like Catholics, Sunny, Marxist-Leninists and so on instead of the all-encompassing terms like Christains. Follow the discipline. Never use the over-general terms.

Imho, I do not see the above as good strategy.

Those Christians who are not into proselytizing may not be creating problems for Hindus, but on the other hand, they are not supporting Hindus either, nor are they opposing the proselytizers. They mostly unite under Christ and
consider him the "Only Way".

I have heard very few Christians speak out against unethical conversions. (we know a few on this blog).

The same goes for Muslims, they unite under Allah and Mohammad. Very, very few of the non-terrorist Muslims speak out against terrorism.

You only get the illusory mental satisfaction that you have divided them, by naming the sects separately.

But if we call them ALL by whatever name they unite under, then it will be THEIR responsibility to oppose the groups whose ideologies they dont support.

If we label them all separately, we are freeing them all of any responsibility to participate!

The petition posted above by Chandramahal got pushed. So I am re-posting it. I'd like to suggest that comments be on hold for some time, to give this petition all the visibility it deserves whether one agrees with it or not, since it is a signature campaign, and a lot of people seem to have been working very hard for it.
