Dowry practice plagues Christian community

jun 15

oh-ho, it is becoming a problem now, "emulating hindus"! that is bullshit. christists in kerala have for at least the last fifty years insisted on huge dowries. the idea is that a christist female has no rights in her parents' home after her marriage and the dowry is her full inheritance. isn't this what mary roy, famous mother of arundhati roy, went to the supreme court to contest?

but christist women, on the other hand, do dominate their husbands in kerala.

I would like to bring this to your notice:

"
HONG KONG -- Famous astrophysicist Stephen Hawking said Thursday that the late Pope John Paul II once told scientists they should not study the beginning of the universe because it was the work of God. "---- LOL

From my own personal experience dowry is much much more prevelant (and huuuuge) in Christian and Muslim communities in kerala.

In fact there are "fixed rates" (how much money, how much gold) based on your "status" and so on before finalising a marriage. I have seen this myself happening with my neighbours, and I have seen lot of (Muslim) marriages breakdown also in the name of dowry (well, they marry again, and again, thats a different story)

I have even seen some Muslim matrimonial advertisement from the girls side which clearly states "willing to give this much money and this much gold" as dowry

I would not say that the system has gone away in the case of Hindus, but in all my life in kerala, I did not come across a single case a "fixed amount" being demanded.. On the other hand, I have had lots of experiences where the boys father clearly tells the girl's .. "as for ornaments and all, whatever you feel is good for ur daughter, we don't have any particular demand" ...

From my experience, I am convinced its better of among Hindus, but yeah, I can't generalise for the whole state.. but surely the way the author of that piece puts it.. Oh well !!

Little off subject..but does anybody know if Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a crypto-christist?
Because in most of his movies there is at least one scene glorifying church/bible/jesus etc?

Rajeev, you have been doing a yeoman's work by publishing news and stories that are of interest to people who love freedom and independence (as opposed to secular media who are all in favour of oppressive regimes and religions). Could you please publish items about what people are doing to fight this oppression and injustice? Who are coming together? Who is fighting the communists, Islamists, and evangelists effectively? What are their methods?

I believe it will have to be a distributed effort. Still, you are the one most likely to come to know about such efforts first.

Kapidhwaja, I am not going to get to your level or leave this blog for you could easily be someone planted by Marxists to kill good discussion. In case you respect BJP stalwarts alone, here is something Vajpayeed said recently in the BJP meeting

"The former Prime Minister said the success of its party's governments would depend on "how we behave with each other and what kind of people we take along."
