Bill Maher's argument is bizarre. The self esteem movement is ultimately a soft tool for making people fall in line. Manufactured consent and political correctness is part of it. Love or hate him, Trump's strategy is neither to make people feel good about themselves, nor to be inoffensive or politically correct. His strategy is to round up a coalition of libertarians, white supremacists, bible thumpers, and Islamophobes and get them to vote in greater numbers. He is taking a big personal risk in doing so and there is no Plan B. Also, many of his supporters are secretive about it and therefore it cannot be said that they are seeking approval or self-esteem from being part of a larger group.

Maher's just a babbler - he's a liberal who can't come to terms with the fact that his fellow Leftists have embraced Islam in a political alliance.
