While the former was uniformaly presented as something gory, repulsive, supersitious, disgusting, etc; the latter was always presented as something noble, a festival of goodwill & harmony. In fact last week Hindustan Times had a full feature on eid with photos of happy looking goats or lambs all awaiting their turn to go to heaven and get their share of the 72 maidens or raisins, i presume.
