ISRO is now soaring higher than ever, reports Time Magazine, after the Chandrayaan-1 mission's discovery of water on the Moon.
As a result of this historic revelation, ISRO will now be making changes to the upcoming Chandrayaan-2 mission in order to follow up on mystery of lunar water and to further investigate it.
India will now be including its own smaller indigenously-made lunar rover on the mission, alongside the Russian rover that was planned. Abdul Kalam, who conceived of the Moon Impact Probe that brought India's flag down onto the Moon, also has further ideas about searching for water underground.

Now, if only they could find a way to get the moon water to flow through all those dry taps in Chennai..........
Sadly NASA has stolen a march on ISRO with regards to water on the moon. I hope ISRO will get down to analyzing all the data that they have collected so that they are not beaten the next time.
can someone pls explain as to why do we see a sea of south indians only at the launches from shar.is physics an exclusive preserve of south indians or it indicates the out-lauisation of space establishments from much before lalu appeared on the indian poltical scene,by a highly parochial south.
I think that India should re-attempt the failed bi-static radar experiment again on Chandrayaan-2, because this offers the best chance of detecting bulk water ice above or below the lunar surface.
Also, the new Indian rover should include a rectenna built into its solar panels, to receive beamed power from the orbiter. This would enable it to explore the shadowed regions where no direct solar illumination is available. It is these regions which have the best chance of holding water, precisely because they are colder due to the lack of solar illumination.
Orbital beamed power transmission could also have useful applications for us here on Earth, where power can be received from being beamed down by orbiting solar arrays.

I agree with Sujeev. Our priority should be providing clean drinking water to our people and water for irrigating our drought hit agrarian lands. Nothing wrong with having grandiose scientific aspirations either. But, such scientific endeavor is of little practical value if it contributes nothing to our national security. China, Pakistan and even puny Bangladesh routinely violate our borders and intimidate our citizens. Our scientific talents would be better directed in ensuring a credible deterrent against foreign aggression, not some utopian lunar mission. (Lunatic mission?)
Sorry, but I'm also sceptical about the quantum of "indigenous" content in anything manufactured by the Indian Stalinist state's "public sector". I only see a "Minimum Credible mission" delivered by anything headed by Dr. Abdul Kalam, like our toothless nuclear "deterrent" and impotent "Integrated Guided Missile Development Program". These are just platforms for flatulent Indian bureaucrats and "peace loving" IIT scientists who like to indulge in egotistical masturbation with their worthless "Technology Demonstrators".
Off topic. Feeling nauseated. Just met this IIT Chennai alumnus fellow, a PhD and a brainwashed ASHA/AID Stalinist nut. I felt like puking after listening to the idiot talk about the wonders of CHACHA Nehru and MAHATMA Gandhi. WTF, how can people be such idiots? It makes my blood boil.
Karyakarta92,
Why do RSS folks like you spend so much time discussing history? Very few seem to be interested in the present. Guess what? You need a break from politics, history debates and a dose of Upanishads to remove those delusions that keep you stuck in the past.
Inferno,
FYI, I'm not affiliated with the RSS, not that there is anything wrong with that. Also, I'm not the one obsessed with history etc. I don't waste my breath debating with brainwashed ASHA/ AID nuts. I was merely listening to one bhakta of Mohsindas Karimchand Ghandy and
felt nauseated by his astounding stupidity
Hey Inferno:
It is not only the "RSS folks" who think Jokerlal Nehru and Gandhi failed. The lack of respect for these two personalities is quitely acknowledged by everyone who have seen the double standards of secularism in India today. So your statements are not going to make anybody change their beliefs. On the otherside, your views of modernity and indian culture are outdated.
Please grow up.
