| | India Currents and the Indian Diaspora Project Present a Panel Discussion: "Building Bridges" Wednesday, Oct 10, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at MLK Library,150 East San Fernando Street, San
Jose, CA 95112
| San Jose, CA, October 1, 2012: Building Brides has been conceived as a community response to the persistence of violence in our society and against members of our ethnic communities, the most recent instance being that of the killings at the Sikh gurdwara in Wisconsin. The primary objective of this panel discussion is to create, promote and render a thought-provoking civil discourse among members of our communities. The panel will be moderated by Dr. Ajit Singh, Consulting Professor, School of Medicine at Stanford and a Partner at Artiman Ventures. The panelists include Ash Kalra, San Jose City Councilmember, District 2; Dennis Akizuki, Breaking News Editor, San Jose Mercury News; Harmeet Kaur Dhillon, Chairwoman, San Francisco Republican Party; Raj Jayadev, Executive Director, Silicon Valley De-Bug; and Simran Kaur, Advocacy Manager, Sikh Coalition. Building Bridges is an attempt to extend the scope of our role as a community magazine; to ask, demand, question, analyze and bridge the differences inherent in our society and between our communities; and to play a proactive role in determining causes and solutions for the misperceptions that encumber our ethnic identity. It is our collective enterprise and initiative that will bring us closer to identifying and resolving the underlying issues attending racial violence. This is just a starting point for the work that is ahead of all of us. The event is free and seating is limited. Snacks will be served. Please confirm at the link provided.
