Jon Huntsman has announced his presidential candidacy, making him the next Mormon after Mitt Romney to run for President of the United States:
Frankly, I think this is a positive, not just because he's a Republican, but because Mormons tend to be more on the side of American nationalism, which will help to break the grip of the extra-territorialist Atlanticist Left which always leans towards Europe.

Being Mormon is definitely a much more difficult place to be ,than say, being a Catholic in a mainly WASP country, so these two, Romney and Huntsman will need enormous personal charisma and sway. With the exception of Utah, Nevada,Montana, Arizona,Wyoming and a handful of states -mainly Utah and Nevada - it is going to be a difficult primary run.
As things stand it is anybody's guess about the outcome of next year's election. However, the Republican arena is not looking convincing.
I agree that both these candidates have a long climb ahead of them, and yet they each have appealing qualities that make them attractive.
Reagan's unprecedented appeal was that he advanced the interests of both conservatives and atlanticists.
Normally, however, the Atlanticists stick to the Democrat camp, and the conservatives stick to the Republican camp.
After reading the comments here and general American politics I cant resist but say 'so much for secularism'
