this sounds a bit fantastic. nicholas negroponte, the guy behind the MIT Media Lab, is a bit of a showman. there were a couple of branches, media lab europe (now shut down) and media lab india (taken over now by the indian government). given this track record of overblown promise, i am not convinced there is anything behind this.
and then, whatever happened to the home-grown simputer?
