the chindu dirty linen out in public: N Ram to sue Indian Express group

Note how n ram (who is otherwise all for full disclosure and freedom of expression) has latched on to ‘internal matter of the board’ subterfuge - and also the defamation attack. The light is nice only as long as it shines on someone else. I am curious to know what the alleged ‘financial irregularities’ are all about.

All this backroom politics – reminds me of the gang of four trials in the Chindu’s favourite land. Guess the blighters learnt something from watching the commies ply their trade

You are oversimplifying the issue.N Ram has integrity in financial matter nor can he be accused of promoting his immediate family. In the Hindu,N Ram is supposed to be the brain behind its jounalistic and editorial policy,so his preparing daughter Vidya cannot be a great impropriety.

He is scrupulously fair in his dealings with other members. He is supporting his cousins against his brother. He is respected by his cousins for his fairness and even affection. Not surprising for this most affected of personalities. This is a family dispute, nothing concerning others. For all we know, this might be just a drama to excite others. Why they should enact it in public, may be that is how some like it.

@ makku,

I am not intimately aware of the goings on at the Hindu - so I will refrain from commenting on the popularity/affection or otherwise for n ram. i have not taken anyone's side - except to note that the Hindu regulalry berates others for not being open - yet when it comes to in-house items - hush is the word. I also said I am curious to know about 'financial irregularities', thereby implying that i do not know enough about them - not asserting that there were any

you read it as supporting his cousins against his brothers. another may interpret it as keeping his cousins as toadies against another power center - or worse using them to outmanoeuvre his own brother out of power. it's all a matter of perception. no?

I know that Vidya Ram did very well at Columbia (which is not saying much - I think barkha dutt went there too - and look at the noise she makes). am not sure of the skills the other complaining members of the family have to offer. yet hiring your own kid kinda reeks of dynasty dont you think? there is someting very KKKangress about it.

yet - I have not read anything that V ram has written and she probably does write well. the editor-in-chief should know - and it is his right to make the decision

N Ram is a complex personality.I was abused and banned by nizhal when I discussed some sensitive issues about Tamizh naadu.

I am a hard core 'Hindu' fundamentalist.I love Nizhals relentless attack on ROP and ROL.But there are a few, very few redeeming features in ROP and ROL and there are faultlines in 'Hinduism' which the British christist racists exploited.

NRam,as a sensitive indvidual from a 'powerful' news group is aware of the faultlines of caste, language etc.

NRam cannot speak even few lines of Tamizh in a state immensely proud of its linguistic identity. Some slack has to be given to him.

The Hindu is not read by tamizh masses.T(D)hina thanthi and Dhinakaran resonate with tamil masses and 'intelligentsia'.Hindu is BS but they have 'good' reasons to support dravidian racism.
