'Ragheads' and Republicans
I think we all know what the answer to that is. The rednecks have their own sickness going on, and it may in fact be incurable. It is the built-in insularity of the American Right that keeps them continually trailing the Left in the polls. It's only when they outgrow their infantilism that they'll be able to outflank the Left by reaching out in the directions they need to.

outlook:The Indian Jews: Parallels between anti-Brahminism and anti-Semitism
some white guy has said this, so it must be true. although indians have been saying this for a long time, that brahmins have been demonized quite intentionally and quite thoroughly, essentially as a prelude to their being wiped out. and the reason is that the brahmins have been the main obstacle preventing christism from taking over.
similarly caste has been vilified because it is another major reason why christists have not been able to convert lots of hindus.
also similarly, the temples at sabarimala, tirupati, and the kanchi matham, as well as mata amritanandamayi, the sai baba, sri sri ravisankar, are all attacked because they are causing the christists to miss their conversion quotas. so they activate their puppets in the media etc.
but if anybody questions any christist godman/godwoman, then all hell breaks loose.
christism is even more dangerous than mohammedanism because the former will stab you in the back while smiling at you; whereas the latter is honest enough to look you in the eye and slice your throat. christism is hypocritical in addition to all its other wonderful fascist traits.

Subject: The Indian Jews: Parallels between anti-Brahminism and anti-Semitism
To:
Counterpoint
The Indian Jews
To be against "Brahminism" is part and parcel of the political correctness of progressive scholars in twenty-first-century India, much like being against Muslims is part of the message of their Hindutva colleagues.
JAKOB DE ROOVER
Social science debate in India has been hijacked by the struggle between secularism and Hindutva for decades now. Usually the Sangh Parivar is blamed for this turn of events. However, it could well be argued that the Hindutva ideologues simply adopted the stance of the secularists. Perhaps the best illustration is the case of anti-Brahminism.
To be against "Brahminism" is part and parcel of the political correctness of progressive scholars in twenty-first-century India, much like being against Muslims is part of the message of their Hindutva colleagues. This indicates that something is very wrong with the Indian academic debate. Promotion of animosity towards a religious tradition or its followers is not acceptable today, but it becomes truly perverse when the intelligentsia endorses it.
In Europe, it took horrendous events to put an end to the propaganda of anti-Semitism, which had penetrated the media and intelligentsia. It required decades of incessant campaigning before anti-Semitism was relegated to the realm of intellectual and political bankruptcy. In India, anti-Brahminism is still the proud slogan of many political parties and the credential of the radical intellectual.
Some may find this parallel between anti-Brahminism and anti-Semitism ill-advised. Nevertheless, it has strong grounds.
First, there are striking similarities between the stereotypes about Brahmins in India and those about Jews in the West. Jews have been described as devious connivers, who would do anything for personal gain. They were said to be secretive and untrustworthy, manipulating politics and the economy. In India, Brahmins are all too often characterised in the same way.
Second, the stereotypes about the Jews were part of a larger story about a historical conspiracy in which they had supposedly exploited European societies. To this day, the stories about a Jewish conspiracy against humanity prevail. The anti-Brahminical stories sound much the same, but have the Brahmins plotting against the oppressed classes in Indian society.
... deleted
The fifth parallel is that both anti-Semitism and anti-Brahminism have deep roots in Christian theology. In the case of Judaism, its continuing vitality as a tradition was a threat to Christianity's claim to be the fulfilment of the Jewish prophecies about the Messiah. The refusal of Jews to join the religion of Christ (the true Messiah, according to Christians) was seen as an unacceptable denial of the truth of Christianity. Saint Augustine even wrote that the Jews had to continue to exist, but only to show that Christians had not fabricated the prophesies about Christ and to confirm that some would not follow Christ and be damned for it.
The contemporary stereotypes about Brahmins and the story about Brahminism also originate in Christian theology. They reproduce Protestant images of the priests of false religion. When European missionaries and merchants began to travel to India in great numbers, they held two certainties that came from Christian theology: false religion would exist in India; and false religion revolved around evil priests who had fabricated all kinds of laws, doctrines and rites in order to bully the innocent believers into submission. In this way, the priests of the devil abused religion for worldly goals. The European story about Brahminism and the caste system simply reproduced this Protestant image of false religion. The colonials identified the Brahmins as the priests and Brahminism as the foundation of false religion in India. This is how the dominant image of "the Hindu religion" came into being.
The sixth parallel lies in the fact that Christian theology penetrated and shaped the "secular" discourse about Judaism and Brahminism. The theological criticism became part of common sense and was reproduced as scientific truth. In India, this continues unto this day. Social scientists still talk about "Brahminism" as the worst thing that ever happened to humanity.
Perhaps the most tragic similarity is that some members of the minority community have internalised these stories about themselves. Some Jews began to believe that they were to blame for what happened during the Holocaust; many educated Brahmins now feel that they are guilty of historical atrocities against other groups. In some cases, this has led to a kind of identity crisis in which they vilify "Brahminism" in English-language academic debate, but continue their traditions. In other cases, the desire to "defend" these same traditions has inspired Brahmins to aggressively support Hindutva.
In twentieth-century Europe, we have seen how dangerous anti-Semitism was and what consequences it could have in society. Tragically, unimaginable suffering was needed before it was relegated to the realm of unacceptable positions. In India, anti-Brahminism was adopted from Protestant missionaries by colonial scholars who then passed it on to the secularists and Dalit intellectuals. They created the climate which allowed the Sangh Parivar to continue hijacking the social sciences for petty political purposes.
The question that India has to raise in the twenty-first century is this: Do we need bloodshed, before we will realise that the reproduction of anti-Brahminism is as harmful as anti-Muslim propaganda? What is needed to realise that the Hindutva movement has simply taken its cue from the secularists? Do we need a new victory of fascism, before we will admit that pernicious ideologies should not be sold as social science?

the cricket imbroglio
my views on cricket are definitely jaundiced, as i think the game sucks.
still, there is some good that came out of the recent fuss in australia.
1. as this blog has maintained all along, 80% of the money fueling cricket comes from india. by standing up to the white guys, this time the indian board rubbed their noses in it. this is good. an unusual show of backbone. this should be a precedent: because of indian buying power we should be able to influence lots of companies and countries.
2. a good example of india making friends and influencing people would be a demarche to malaysia saying that india will stop trading with the stupid little mohammedan fundamentalists right now. they have nothing india wants, but they do want indian brains for their white elephant cyberjaya and other grand ambitions. we import palm oil from them, thereby causing farmer suicides. and the bastards terrorize hindus there. of course, the UPA's reaction is to send anthony there to suck up to them. it was nice that immediately after anthony said malaysia is the kingpin for india's defense cooperation in SE Asia, the malay bigots said they want to send all indians home. actually i am suprised they didn't say send all hindu indians back to india, and welcome to mohammedan and christist indians. a couple of indian navy battle groups cruising into the straits of malacca on a 'friendship tour' would emphasize the point nicely, if only someone with some vertebrae were in charge in india, instead of flunkies.
3. back to cricket, india should now dictate terms. as this game is choreographed like WWF wrestling, some of the rules might be:
a. india wins 75% of its matches, we allow a few of the other miserable teams to win now and then
b. india is always world champion
c. whenever sachin tendulkar goes out to bat, the count starts with 100. sachin tendulkar will be the greatest batsman in all history for all time
d. if sachin tendulkar is bowled, it is a no-ball
e. if sachin tendulkar is caught, it is a dropped catch
f. sachin tendulkar does not have to field, only bat
g. sachin tendulkar is given out when sachin tendulkar decides he is out. this is like bhishma dying when he wants to
if all this is not done, india is going to take its money and go home. goodbye, million dollar ad revenue for steve waugh and pals.
4. the australians, being convicts, are slow to get the picture. but i am sure the british, always ready to genuflect to anybody with money, picked up on the deal very quickly. arent the ICC dominated by brits?
5. oh, a suggestion for the indian team and fans. prepare a bunch of racist insults to use on white guys, don't beat up on that black guy. i am not familiar with many, but here are a few i have heard: honky, redneck, white trash, trailer trash. these may be too america-specific, but there must be others (eg. convict) that apply to aussies.
(BTW, isn't it interesting that there are lots of racist words about non-whites, but very few about whites? good indication that the racists are whites, no?)

please donate generously. i have sent them a check for what i could afford.
this group has done great work in exposing witzel and the white guys masquerading as 'dalits' as charlatans, and their approach which is direct and related to the fundamental rights of citizens -- yes, even hindu citizens have rights, amazing as that concept might be -- is likely to pay dividends. please support them as much as you can.

First of all, we would like to thank you for your support last year. The lawsuit is progressing well through the discovery process. The long and tiring discovery is nearing its end. CAPEEM has found incriminating evidence of active collaboration between various parties to discriminate against Hindu Americans and Americans of Indian origin through sixth grade history and Social Studies textbooks. The lawsuit exposes the workings of California Department of Education, State Board of Education, Michael Witzel, James Heitzman and Stanley Wolpert, and Christian Mission Organizations, Dalit Solidarity Network and Dalit Freedom Forum, masquerading as Dalit organizations.
In the next phase, at the end of discovery, CAPEEM will depose the CDE officials, SBE members, and their experts. The process is very involved in this stage. Our funds are at a low.
We look forward to your generous support this year again.
Please make your contribution today; your support is very important.

Revathi the hero
Revathi -- a hindu woman in malaysia was subject to torture for being hindu.
This article reveals two things:
1. That in the end, a moderate islamic state is not possible.
Indeed, all islamic states are doomed to become taliban style (or iran style, or saudi style or yemen style -- take your pick, or nigeria style, or somalia style or pakistan style) blackholes of extemism and fanaticism with no economic activity to speak of.
The only reason some islamic states have not reached this state of exalted bliss is due to the pressure of some kambakht (urdu for idiotic) leaders who claim themselves to be tolerant.
The inevitable trajectory, however, is of talibanisation.
Now showing: talibanistan (pakistan -- happening as we speak).
And in the next 10 years, also coming to other countries nearby -- notably Malaysia and Indonesia nd Bangladesh (and perhaps the Maldives as well)
2. All this augurs poorly for Hindus -- who will not be protected by India.
People like our Moron PM will indulge in handwringing for some "Bangalore Bomber, MD" in the UK but not for Revathi.
The ELM will ignore her.
And no Teestas or Shabanas will protest for her.
And yet, despite this enveloping darkness -- there is light.
There is light in the fact that Revathi, despite being force-fed beef, despite being incarcerated, refused to cave in.
There is light that despite the efforts of (1) and (2), thousands of nameless, unsung Revathis will undergo torture and deprivation -- all to save our way of life.
There if light, that while it is fashionable these days to die (or kill) for your faith, there are still a few who are willing to live for their way of life.
In a sea of dhimmified Arjun Singhs and Manmorons, Revathi stands tall and gives the jaded (myself included) hope.
The Singapore Today newspaper carries a picture of Revathi. An ordinary woman, with sindoor in her parting, a bindi on her forehead, clutching her 15 month baby but with steel in her eyes.
I salute this woman.

Hilarious -- Pseudosecular wag on the purdah
When UPA presidential nominee Pratibha Patil mentioned that the purdah had been in existence since Mughal times, she was being historically inaccurate, but voicing a commonly held misconception.Mughal women were not covered! Yeah, right -- they cavorted around freely -- much like women in islamic nations today do.
In fact, according to N R Farooqi, professor of History at Allahabad University, the Mughals probably borrowed purdah from the Rajputs. Historian Harbans Mukhia, in his book, The Mughals of India, cites the Baburnama and the Humayunnama to state that the Mughals were never in purdah. Farooqi says Mughal women were introduced to the purdah only after Akbar married a Rajput princess, who may have brought this custom along with her.
This would be funny if it had not been pathetic.
Fortunately, not too many have fallen for this rubbish: many of the replies note -- with sources -- that the purdah is mandated in Islamic scriptures.

China hits back, bans American foods
With a particular focus on Uncle Sam .
China, has mastered the key tricks of global politics and have seen through the standard Western duplicity -- its never really about safety/propriety or the law. Its pure self interest.
In stark contrast, had this happened to an Indian good (say mangoes or clothing), Manmoron and company would have caved in immediately -- petitions would have been filed and "fact-based" efforts at convincing the Yanks would have been launched ("Oh look... our mangoes are the best"). CNN would have shown agri practices in remote Bihar and made disparaging comments about India in general. At which point our "upright" PM would have assumed his habitual position: kneeling.
India should borrow a leaf out of China's book and retaliate in kind -- by dumping American goods -- corn, Pepsi cola, the works -- into the sea!
This is also why, I am more confident that China -- and not India or Brazil -- will break Western hegemony over agri-subsidises.

Plan to disrupt the Peaceful Protest was foiled in Chicago
On May 6, 2007 nearly 500 people were peacefully protesting in Chicago expressing their concern for the plight of Hindu Temples in Andhra Pradesh during Honorable Chief Minister's visit to USA.
A group of five people came into the middle of demonstration and started asking why we were doing the protest. One of the Protesters gave the booklet containing the information. Protesters took the booklets when they did not want. Then one gentleman, later identified as Dr. Jayachand Pallekonda went behind Mr Praveen Gandhi and started choking his throat with his fingers. Mr Gandhi was not even able to shout as his throat was being pressed very hard. Nearby police saw the incident immediately, rushed behind Dr Pallekonda pulled his hands off Mr Gandhi and handcuffed him.
Then took away from the Protest area and filed a case. Hearing is set for May 23, 2007 in Rosemont, Il. Mr. Gandhi was taken to the emergency hospital the next day due to the swollen glands. Dr. Pallekonda is seen on the left side of the picture with black outfit. Dr. Jayachand Pallekonda is President of Federation of Indian American Christian Organization of North America, Washington, DC.

The Cattle Invasion Theory
it turns out that indian bulls went westward and inseminated african cows.
according to the farmer-witzel type nazis, 'aryan' studs (human) came 'thundering down the khyber pass in their horse-drawn chariots' to impregnate indian (human) females.
meanwhile indian studs (cattle) were invading africa to impregnate local female cattle.
how did these indian cattle get to africa? that would indicate an out-migration by indian cattle (along with indian humans) from india.
but i am expecting eminent donkey steve farmer to show any day now that brave indian bulls just walked over the khyber pass and all the way to africa on their own in their zeal to impregate some new bunch of females. this is my preferred explanation: it's my new Zebu Invasion Theory. in the spirit of magnanimity, i am not trademarking this theory, just copyrighting it before steve farmer does so.
and this fits in with steve farmer's theory of how the indus script does not support a full language per se. see, it is mostly records of cattle movements. the predominant glyph is 'moo' :-) [although i remain partial to my earlier (TM) Aryan Tourist Theory and the obvious implication that the indus script is just visa stamps for the white tourists coming to india. obviously, farmer is right in either case. which is why i am such a fan.]
it does get curiouser and curiouser.
note that european cattle only have genes from arab cattle. naturally, it would not do for them to have genes from indian cattle. actually it would be quite interesting to analyze how much arab human male genetic material there is in the european white genetic pool. after all, a lot of white european females were enslaved and studded by arabs in their glory days before and during the crusades.

Domestication's family tree
DNA is revealing that taming animals was not a simple process
The Economist 26apr01
FEW subjects, these days, can escape the embrace of genetics. That is especially true of archaeology. The study of genes has already illuminated humanity's history, showing how and when the species spread from its African roots to the farthest corners of the world. Now it is uncovering details of the most significant period of that history, the beginning of agriculture.
The latest piece of the jigsaw was published in this week's Nature by Christopher Troy of Trinity College, Dublin, and David MacHugh of University College, Dublin. They and their colleagues have been trying to work out whether modern European cattle were domesticated from the now extinct auroch (Bos primigenius) that once roamed the continent, or are the descendants of cattle that were brought from the Middle East by the settlers who are believed to have introduced agriculture to Europe around 7,000 years ago.
To answer this question, Dr Troy and Dr MacHugh turned to mitochondrial DNA. This particular form of the genetic material is more abundant in a cell than is the familiar DNA of the cell's nucleus. That is because each cell has many mitochondria. They are the cellular components that release energy from glucose, and they have their own DNA because they were, in the distant evolutionary past, free-living bacteria. By contrast, a cell has but a single nucleus. Extracting mitochondrial DNA from old bones is therefore easier than extracting nuclear DNA.
That is what Dr Troy and Dr MacHugh did. They took mitochondrial DNA samples from four fossil aurochs found in Britain and compared them with the mitochondrial DNA of modern cattle from Europe, Africa and the Middle East. As time passes, mutations accumulate in the DNA, as one "letter" of the genetic code is replaced by another. By looking at the number of differences between the DNA-sequences of two creatures it is possible to see how closely related they are. It is also possible to estimate how much time has passed since they shared a common ancestor, since the rate at which letters are substituted usually remains constant for particular types of creature.
As the diagram shows, the aurochs, though related to Middle Eastern and European cattle, are on a branch by themselves. The aboriginal Europeans did not, it seems, have the wit to domesticate cattle. It took a bunch of immigrants to show them how.
[]
That, until recently, would have been regarded as a textbook example of the way that agriculture developed. Species, it was theorised, were domesticated only once and the result "diffused" to the rest of the world. Over the past few years, though, other genetic studies have revealed a more interesting pattern.
The diagram of the cattle family tree published by Dr Troy and Dr MacHugh incorporates another branch, discovered a little while ago by Daniel Bradley, one of their collaborators who also works at Trinity College. Dr Bradley was responsible for testing the theory that modern cattle are the result of not one but two separate domestications. This theory, which predates even Charles Darwin, is based on the very different anatomies of cattle found in Europe and the Middle East, compared with those from India. In particular, the westerly cattle lack the shoulder humps of zebu, the Indian breed.
Those who support the idea of a single domestication suggest that the distinctions could be the result of subsequent selective breeding. Dr Bradley, though, used mitochondrial DNA to show that the most recent common ancestor of Bos taurus (the western cow) and Bos indicus (the zebu) may have lived as much as 1m years agowell before Homo sapiens existed.
'Til the cows come home
In Africa, the story is more confusing. African cattle have features of both Bos taurus and Bos indicus, but their mitochondrial DNA suggests that, despite this apparently intermediate nature, they all belong to Bos taurus. Mitochondrial DNA, however, is unusual in being passed down only from mothers to offspring (sperm leave their mitochondria behind when they fertilise an egg). When Dr Bradley examined the nuclear DNA of cattle, and in particular that of their Y chromosomes, which confer maleness, he found a different picture.
Zebu-like cattle in Africa did, indeed, turn out to have Indian genes in them. But those genes have come, overwhelmingly, from male Indian cattle. That suggests cattle originally came to Africa from the Middle East, as geography might predict. But it also suggests that, when trade eventually brought Indian cattle to Africa, the zebu took the fancy of African stock-breeders, who deliberately studded their females with Indian males. That explains the mixture of characteristics, and also why the female-linked DNA looks Middle Eastern and the male-linked DNA looks Indian.
Cattle are not the only animals to have been domesticated on more than one occasion. Mitochondrial DNA suggests that goats, sheep, pigs, yaks and buffalo were each domesticated at least twice. Dogs were domesticated at least four times. And the mitochondrial tree for horses is so tangled that it is impossible to say exactly how many times people first slung themselves into the saddle.
That is intriguing for two reasons. First, it suggests that lots of people had the idea of domesticating animals independently, rather than the process being tried out only once for each species. Second, it adds weight to the idea that the reason such a limited number of animals has been domesticated is not because people stopped when they felt they had enough species for their needs, but rather because they tried many times and frequently failed. It was only with the ancestors of the species that now grace farmyards that they got results.
Melinda Zeder of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, who studies the process by which goats were domesticated, observes that the wild forms of those species that have been domesticated tend to live in groups and have fairly clear dominance hierarchies. This makes it easy for them to fit in with humanity. Animals such as gazelles, which would, on the face of things, be good candidates for domestication, do not have such hierarchies, so they would not easily submit to the discipline that the farmyard requires. Whether the free-spirited gazelle is better off than the cosseted goat, cow or sheep is an open question.
