looks like obama's health care plan is now going to be in effect. good luck to all under this plan -- we shall see the mother of the law of unintended consequences.

Obama is trying to pass the healthcare bill by fraud. Most of the country opposes it and has loudly protested it. The Governors of VA and NJ lost because of this and so did the Democrat in the MA Senate election to replace Ted Kennedy.

Now Obama is using dirty tricks to make it law. The House and the Senate approved two different versions of the bill and it cannot be law until they both approve the same bill. Since the House Reps are running scared, Obama does not have the numbers. So he and Pelosi have thought up a fraudulent way of doing this -- the House votes on a resolution saying that they trust the Senate to make fixes and it deems the bill to be passed once the Senate makes fixes.
The Senate on its part does not have the 60 votes to make changes. So they will subvert the law too and use a procedure called 'Reconciliation' which requires only 51 votes, but is allowed only for budgetary measures and not for policy related issues and even for budget related issues only for those measures that would increase the deficit. And the catch-22 situation is that Reconciliation is allowed only for existing laws, not for bills not yet law. So Obama has to sign it into law first.
So you have two unconstitutional events here - the House delegating its power without voting on a bill and the Senate using Reconciliation on a policy issue. There is another unconstitutional point in the bill itself -- it has a clause that no future Congress can remove a subsection of the bill! Imagine stripping the Congress of its law-making authority without amending the Constitution.
The voting in the House that will deem the bill passed once Senate does its job is on Sunday. Once they do that, the House Reps believe that they are clean and can claim in their districts that they did not vote for the healthcare bill.
This is headed to the Supreme Court for sure.

Obama seems to have learnt a thing or two from Manmohan.
Off course socialism has arrived in USA. That is because capitalism has left long back. Why do you think people let corrupt banks live on taxpayers' cost. This is the very definition of socialism: economic leaches drawing blood from taxpayers though conduits known as politicians.
You might also call it crony capitalism.
the only good thing about the plan is that the insurance companies will get shafted.... seriously - I am wondering if the health insurance sector will be the next in line for a bailout
most probably yes. And that would kind of complete the victory of socialists in US.
Naturally, unethical conduct of insurance companies (supported by regulators, where co. connot compete outside of one state etc) has led to unintended consquence.
But in this saga insurance companies are not the only villain. The medical profession is at least as unethical, if not more. And how about pharmaceutical companies which invest big time in viagra, and asthma steroids rather in more common disease.
Only loser in this sorry state are consumers of medical/pharmaceutical/insurance cartel. Naturall they have responded by forcing a law, illegally.

One effect of the choice available for buying health insurance was that some people who were in young age, had good health and no scope of dying from alchol or drug or tobaco induced diseases were simply not buying the polcies. This made the baby boomers bear maximum cost of the health problem of their generation.
Since baby boomers are shrieking political voices and have just begun to retire, it makes sense for leftist politicians to shift the cost of their healthcare to younger section of population who are now shaw going to be forced to indirectly pay for boomers.
And, those who think Supreme Court would nullify the 'law' should take a look at US consitution which says money shall be of gold or silver only.
Corrupt people, corrupt nation.
