Following is a newsitem from www.asianetglobal.com. Yet another example of 'minority appeasing' by Ooomen Chandy govt. Amma mentions here about a 'particular community' given permission to build all houses in ERKM. No points for guessing that community though - yeah KM Mani another Christian militant together with Oomen will give all lands with local populations to venemous missionaries...

Govt’s indifference: Amma anguished
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Amritanandamayi Devi, the spiritual head of thousands of believers, is anguished and upset over the callous and indifferent attitude of the Oommen Chandi Government’s towards her offer to build houses for those who lost everything in the tsunami attack.
“Though the Mutt proposed to rebuild all houses ravaged by the tsunami waves at Alappat, the government has sanctioned only 50 houses. While one particular community was given permission to build the entire houses in Ernakulam district, the Mutt is being discriminated against,” said Amritananda Mayi in an exclusive interview to Mangalam, a prominent Malayalam daily.
The Holi Mother said the plans of the houses to be built by the Mutt were prepared by the government but they are vague and incomplete. “The people in Alappat are adamant that the Mutt should build the House only after getting the details of the number of houses, location and for whom to be built,” the daily quotes the Holi Mother as saying.
She said discontentment is brewing up among the local population but she is restraining them from resorting to extreme measures.
There is more to this. According to what I heard, the mutt had built additional temporary sheds and relocated the tsunami victims there so that classes could begin at the Amrita University. So, then what happened, the govt. conveniently shut down the nearby govt. relief camp, forcing a batch of 2000 people to come over to the campus. I dont want to mention what I heard about their condition at the time. Last I heard, the college is being run now for the semester in an old nearby building.
