Here is a real PDF document of The Making of the Taj Mahal. Its special value are the links which I have gone to to some trouble locating. So old book references quoted in the article can be accessed if they are available.
Pls share the document with as many of your interested friends as possible. The literary references in the article are very credible and persuasive. There is no longer any doubt that the Taj building belonged to Raja Man Singh and that Shah Jahan acquired it somehow from the Raja's grandson for his own purpose.
Shantanu Bhagwat was very unhappy with my post so I had to take it down. He said the TOI claimed copyright. But I had credited the TOI and him as author. And if you search Google you will find others have now posted the TOI article on their blogs. My view is that once an article is on the Internet it belongs to the public and can no longer be controlled by author or publisher. The obligation for re-posters is to be sure to credit author and publisher and not change content.
Have a good read!
Namaste,
