General Musharraf has been trying to please both Pakistans domestically for political reasons, but I believe the time has come that he must make a choice. If he *really* means what he says about ridding Pakistan of extremism, he must take on the mullahs and the madrassahs unequivocally and head-on. The fact that the suicide bombers in London were Pakistanis and possibly trained recently in Pakistani madrassahs should be a wake-up call for liberal Pakistanis - they must engage this war and confront this evil now. There is no more time, and denial is not an option. And all of us from the outside world must give our full support to the liberals to help them win this fight, for as London has shown, we have a stake in it as well.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7813749.post-1119069917048278372005-06-18T10:15:00.000+05:302005-06-18T10:15:00.000+05:30Dont woory about Australia,as Australia under John...Dont woory about Australia,as Australia under John Howard, has just a piggy back of US, they do what US does, there was no economics involved in the trip as pakistan has nothing to export as such to australia and austrlia doesn't seem to have anything to export to pakistan, other then cattle and wheat.Renu Sharmahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12811173192181566339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7813749.post-1119019243558010102005-06-17T20:10:00.000+05:302005-06-17T20:10:00.000+05:30Well said KP.Also recently in UP a girl named Imra...Well said KP.

Also recently in UP a girl named Imrana was raped by her father-in-law.

Apparently, the local maulavis want this case to be tried under the Shariat. The fight of a struggling woman against an entire community of radical islamists. Apparently her response to the incident was rather extraordinary. Since the incident she got herself actively involved in social service and started a school for poor children and apparently one of her rapist's son is enrolled in her school!! I slaute the woman for her courage. I think its amazing. Btw, the Paki PM has lifted the ban on her travel but I dont think she could travel to u.s. She has got a case in court and she has to be physically present in Pakistan for the same. Atleast thats what the US embassy in Pakistan would say.
kpThe Red Indianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18353743445901451906noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7813749.post-1118995198014157792005-06-17T13:29:00.000+05:302005-06-17T13:29:00.000+05:30How well said. How are the poor Indians going to cope with this nasty combination???Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7813749.post-1118982481154179672005-06-17T09:58:00.000+05:302005-06-17T09:58:00.000+05:30Spot on and candid like many of Rajeev's columns.Spot on and candid like many of Rajeev's columns.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
